Hampstead Health and Fitness is home to a one-of-a-kind youth fitness facility, HHF KIDS, to service the youth who have been, for the most part, left behind by the fitness industry. Through early membership in an interactive gym that blends video-game bikes, electronic dance pads (DDR's), and Nintendo Wii exercises with personalized free-weight, cardiovascular, and core training, HHF will help combat many of the health issues facing our children today and by building a strong foundation for a life long journey to optimal health and fitness.

As an added benefit, families that exercise together grow stronger and healthier in so many areas of their lives. They have things in common to talk about, whether it's a particular routine on the treadmill they all enjoy or discussing their individual goals. The positive comments offered to each other for any accomplishment builds stronger bonds and solid self-esteem.

Selene Yeager, a contributing editor for Prevention Magazine notes “What you tell your kids to do is like a whisper, but what you actually do is like a scream. When you make fitness a fun part of kids’ everyday lives, they’ll be more likely to exercise when they’re grown. That’s your greatest gift to them.” Building healthy lifestyle habits now that they'll take with them into adulthood can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases. Now that's a gift worth giving.

The prevalence of obesity among children aged 6 to 11 more than doubled in the past 20 years, going from 6.5% in 1980 to 17.0% in 2006. The rate among adolescents aged 12 to 19 more than tripled, increasing from 5% to 17.6%.
