Hampstead Health & Fitness Club Policies
At Hampstead Health & Fitness, we are a community. Each of our 1,300 members, as well as every staff employee and trainer, is part of this community and the HHF team. With a variety of equipment, a building illuminated by natural light, and a team-oriented culture, we’ve created a space ideal for all. We endeavor to lead members closer to their fitness and personal goals in a safe and healthy manner. Our tenured fitness instructors acknowledge their clients’ achievements and personalize each training program to ensure members are getting what they need, not just a typical workout.
Our doors are open to everyone, no matter your age or experience level, as long as you help us uphold the gym’s judgment-free and friendly atmosphere. If you have any questions about HHF or our policies, feel free to reach out to our on-site owner Ted Curtin, the general manager Melissa Peabody, or our front desk staff. Thanks for choosing HHF and we look forward to seeing you at the gym!
Complimentary New Member Orientation
We get it – starting at a new gym can be overwhelming, especially if you are not sure which classes will work best with your body. That’s why we recommend new members start with the complimentary new member orientation, called “Basic.” The orientation is a membership package that aims to introduce you to our trainer-led sessions and expires 30 days after you have joined HHF.
Read more about our orientation package.
Health and Safety
HHF’s mission is to give our members individualized training that supports their fitness objectives and pushes them to embrace physical challenges. However, our trainers do not know your body the way you do. If you feel that you require medical attention or have developed an injury, we ask that you receive help from a medical professional.
If this occurs, or if you have or had a medical condition you think we should know about, please tell your HHF trainer or a staff member so that your training program can be adjusted for your body’s needs. To do so, we need a written note from a medical professional detailing the circumstance and whether you may continue exercising. If we do not receive this note or believe that a member is not exercising in a healthy manner, we may restrict your membership.
General
HHF RULES AND REGULATIONS
HHF is a friendly and open space to all, but the club still has rules and regulations that we require members to abide by each time they exercise with us. If a member fails to do so, HHF reserves the right to take away their membership. Additionally, we may alter these rules and regulations at any time, at our sole discretion.
CHECK IN
Upon entering the HHF building, members are asked to scan their ID tag. New members will receive an ID tag from the front desk when signing up for a membership. We are happy to replace a lost or stolen tag for no charge the first time, but will require a $2 fee for each following replacement.
LOCKERS
HHF has lockers for rent on an ongoing basis (various terms available) for members who would like to lock up personal items while exercising. The lockers are rented out for a monthly fee. If you choose not to rent a locker, we highly recommend that you keep your belongings with you at all times. To find out more about our available lockers, please inquire at the front desk.
MISSING ITEMS
If an item of yours is missing, members should go to the front desk where we have a Lost and Found. We keep items in the Lost and Found for 14 days before placing them in storage for 90 days. If, after this time period, the items are not claimed, we will donate them to charity. HHF is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property of our members.
FOOTWEAR
We ask that members wear closed-toe athletic shoes in the main areas of the gym and not wear bicycle shoes outside of the Spin Bike Cardio room. Members may go barefoot in the stretching areas and in class when warranted, such as in Yoga and Barre Fitness classes.
PREGNANCY
If you are pregnant, we ask that you consult a medical professional to ensure your exercise routine is appropriate. Temporary membership suspensions are available to expecting members for up to three months, or more if needed. Requests for a membership suspension must be made at least 15 days before the month the suspension will begin.
MEMBERS UNDER 18
The HHF Workout Floor and Cardio Deck are designed for adults. However, we allow teenagers as follows:
- Age 13: must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 100 percent of the time spent in the club. (If the parent is on cardio, the teen must be on cardio. If the guardian is in a class, the teen must be in that class, etc.)
- Age 14: must have a parent or guardian present in the building while exercising in the club.
- Age 15: must have met with a trainer for the complimentary “Basic” session prior to being in the club without parental supervision. Otherwise, the teen must have a parent or guardian present in the building while exercising in the club.
- Ages 16 and 17: have all rights of an adult member.
Anyone under 18 must have written parental consent prior to exercising in the club. Special considerations should be brought to the attention of Ted Curtin for review.
Children 3 months through 8 years in age can enjoy the Playroom while their parent or guardian works out. To learn more, [click here.]
RENOVATIONS
On the rare occasion that HHF is renovating during operating hours, we will inform members of closed areas and schedule changes through our website, our Facebook page and signs in the HHF building.
WEATHER
During serious weather conditions, we will notify members of changes to the schedule through our website and Facebook page, if possible. If you are unsure of whether the club is open and do not see a message posted on our website or Facebook page, please call the gym and we will be happy to let you know of any schedule alterations.
TECHNOLOGY AND SECURITY CAMERAS
We do not condone the use of any technology devices without the consent of our members. Due to this, we prohibit the use of electronic devices in the locker rooms, including cell phones and cameras. Photography and recording are forbidden in the locker rooms. If you need to use your phone to make a call, we ask that you do so in the front lobby. On occasion, the HHF staff or trainers may use photography or recording devices in main parts of the gym, excluding the locker rooms, with the verbal consent of those having their picture taken or being filmed. No images or videos will be used without the prior written consent of the member.
For the safety and security of you and your family, security cameras with recording capabilities are in use throughout our building, excluding in the locker rooms, bathrooms and the Group Exercise room. Special considerations for photography or video recording should be brought to Ted Curtin for review and possible authorization. Never use photography or recording without prior written consent.
EMAILS
Members consent to HHF sending them infrequent email messages about billing, promotions and more. You may opt out of these emails at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” button at the bottom of the email.
SOLICITATION
HHF wants our members to feel comfortable and relaxed in the gym. Therefore, we will not tolerate solicitation of any kind without the prior written permission of Ted Curtin.
